Halis Ödel was born in Buldan, located in the city of Denizli.

• In 1978, Mr. Ödel graduated from Istanbul Kabataş Boys' High School

• In 1980, he attended Paris Sorbonne University’s French Language Program.

• Following his father’s death, in 1981 he dropped out of Paris Descardes University, Necker School of Medicine, to take over his family’s textile production & trade business.

• In 1982, he resumed his higher education in Turkey, while continuing the family business, employing several people and households.

• In 1988, he graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. In the meantime, he held internships in Pasteur Institute and Bologna University in Paris, France and in Bologna, Italy, respectively. • In 1989, Mr. Ödel passed the entry exam at the top of his class for the Doctorate degree in Istanbul University, Faculty of Political Science. He wrote his dissertation on his hometown Denizli and its towns.

  In the same year, he started tradesmanship activities in Istanbul’s centuries-old business district, Mahmutpaşa, while retaining his family business operations in Buldan, Denizli.

 He was elected to the secretariat of Mahmutpaşa Tradesmen Council, as well as to the board of directors of Denizli Exporters’ Association.

• In 2007, Turkey’s state-run television TRT dedicated a full episode of its acclaimed documentary series, “Bizden Birileri / One of Us” to Dr. Halis Ödel and the town of Denizli.

• In 2010, Denizlipek, established by Dr. Ödel, ranked 33rd in corporate taxes among 10,000 companies registered in Denizli. Every year, Denizlipek ve Ödel Buldan companies rank in the first 50 and 100 companies in corporate taxes, respectively.
Dr. Ödel is still at the helms of Denizlipek and Ödel Buldan, trading with close to 30 countries. Through these companies, he’s been contributing to the economies of Denizli, Bursa, Mersin and Buldan.

• Dr. Ödel rallied as a member of parliament candidate for Denizli at the March 29th, 2015 primaries for CHP (Republican People’s Party), for the 25th and 26th parliament periods.

• In June 24th, 2018 general elections, Dr. Ödel ran as a presumptive candidate for CHP (Republican People’s Party).

• In 2021, he was granted “Special Green Passport” due to several years of export activities.
